Goethe’s House

At a distance of 1,5 km from the Atrium City Hotel there is a house-museum of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Goethe’s House – is a place where the great poet was born in 1749 and today it is a museum, which collects original manuscripts, art works and archives.

During the Second World War, the original building was destroyed in the bombing. Later the house was restored just repeating the XVII century building, right to the decor in the rooms, which have been designed in the style of the late Baroque.

There have been creating works like ” Faust “, ” Goetz von Berlichingen “, ” The Sorrows of Young Werther .” In the House of Goethe are collected works of Frankfurt artists he inspired. Also,  the museum contains graphics and busts of XVII and XIX centuries. Such diversity reflects the attitude of the poet to art.

Visitors of the Goethe’s House will be able to see the archive, a research library of the poet, confidential documents, manuscripts and a unique collection of art works.

In one’s turn, the Atrium City Hotel’s guests are enough to walk a little bit or drive a car to get to Goethe’s House.
