The Palm Garden

Just 3 km from the Atrium City Hotel in Frankfurt there is the Palm Garden (Palmengarten), which collected all variety of flora from all over the world.

On the territory of 22 hectares are close to each other the subtropical plants and the plants of ornamental horticulture, various flowers and aquariums showing a vivid underwater world.

The Palm Garden was built in 1871 at the expenses of the initiative society that bought tropical trees grown by Duke Adolf of Nassau especially for sale. The history of the formation of Palmengarten in Frankfurt started from these trees. The garden was badly damaged during the bombing in the Second World War. Its restoration began in 1954. During the restoration the old greenhouses were restored for tropical and desert plants, were built new exhibition spaces.

Today the Palm Garden for citizens and tourists – is an opportunity to know all the diversity of flora, for example, the landscape of savanna, tropics, desert, and the rock garden with a waterfall.

Regular excursions, meetings, variety cultural programs and concerts are held in Palmengarten. Annually, since 1931, a holiday of the roses and lights is celebrated in the garden. Also, in the summer, here goes the famous Festival Jazz im Palmengarten, during of which a visitor can enjoy not only the wonderful landscape, but also the magnificent jazz improvisation.

Especially for children in the garden are created playgrounds, and in the summer and warm spring there is an opportunity to play miniature golf, go boating and on a small railway.

Thanks to the convenient location of the Atrium City Hotel, it takes a few minutes on foot or by car to reach the Palm Gardens.
